Earlier this year we conducted a Learning at Work Survey to uncover the changing trends that professionals are seeing in their workplace.

100% of participants surveyed said that Learning at Work was important to their Business

however…

1 in 8  businesses  don’t have Personal Development Reviews

and….

1/3 feel their Personal Development Reviews are not effective

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Personal Development Reviews (PDR’s) are often implemented within a business, but not always effective. PDR’s should be used to:

1. Raise Self Awareness

2. Provide a sense of Direction

3. Improve Focus and Effectiveness

4. Increase Motivation

5. Improve Personal Development

6. Improve Relationships

Effective PDR’s are about taking the time and making the commitment, to invest in your greatest resource, your people.

Investing in Personal Development allows you to proactively up-skill your employees, develop your business techniques and invest in your future business results.

From our survey, we asked how could your PDR’s be improved, here are some of the suggestions:

  • Factual, more in-depth and concrete outcomes
  • Using real performance measurements and relevant KPI’s
  • Carried out more frequently

When we surveyed  businesses back  in 2016,  ‘On the Job training’ was the most popular training method and although we can see from the results from our 2017 survey that more business adopted this method, it was Classroom Based Workshops that are the training method of choice for nearly 90% of businesses.
